..at least for the minis!

I discovered that I had few to no pictures of my completed minis, so it was quite fun to have a look at them and reminisce.
The mind boggling discovery of just how much watering down your paints impacted the quality of the finished product was my first major 'AHA!' experience. -Not to be confused with the band..

Most minis I've painted have been gifts or commissions, and I wasn't clever enough to take pictures of them before shipping. -_-

Anyways! Welcome to another binge-upload, as I'm terrible at updating this page regularly.. ;)

It's blisteringly hot these days (at least by my standards), so am staying in the shade as much as possible and got as many fans running as I could get my hands on. Oscar (TheEpicCat) is panting like a dog in the heat, but we're managing. -And hoping for cooler days. It's quite bizarre to think that we had snow 7 weeks ago and a temperature difference of 50 degrees Celsius.. o.O

Can't believe it's been 5 YEARS since I last wrote or updated the journal.. *hangs head in shame*

It's been.. a roller coaster.. to say the least. :D
Since 2013 I've so far;

* quit my day job
* bought a horse
* started school again
* finished education at said school
* got my own business
* add several major family issues
* add new kitten

Have taken up board gaming again in a big way, either solo or co-op adventures.
I live by the motto 'the best camera is the one you have with you', and am snapping pics with my phone more than the shiny DSLR. But hey, whatever gets the job done! ;)

Here's to hoping for an update a little sooner than 5 years XD

Another month gone by before one can blink! I guess there is truth in what they say about time going faster as you get older. ;)

Decided to brush some dust off the ol' camera and get cracking on improving another of my crafts! Dug the Lensbaby out for some experiments, and got the hang of things a little better than the last time I tried. Oh the places this thing can take you.
Also considering investing in some ND filters, just to have a try. The options are limitless! So damn confusing in the jungle of camera stuffs that I can't really decide if I want to drool or cry.

Work keeps me freakishly busy during the day, and ample hobbies during the evening helps pass the time. Leg's still bummed, the physio gave up so it's back to the doc's for yet another referral later this week. approaching 11 weeks on the sofa now and it's driving me absolutely stir crazy. On the upside, it should be easily fixable, I just don't know when.

Other half flew back home yesterday morning. The flat is, as usual, cold and empty without him. Luckily I fly over to see him in another 4 weeks time, having the next journey planned out before the first one finishes does help somewhat. The time until we won't have to spend most of the year apart seems like an eternity away, but in reality it's just a drop in the ocean. =)
March will see us Happy Snapping in the UK, and catching War Horse before I'm heading back home.

Found an interesting macro nature challenge over on aljoschathielen.deviantart.com…, will have a look around and see if I can find anything worth while. Any exsuse to take the macro accessories out for a meander round town :squee:

New beginnings?

2 min read
2012 vanished before I could blink, and here's a shiny new year to fill with memories forged with friends new and old.
The past year has seen many changes both professionally and personally.

Still feel like I'm drowning in my new assignment at work, the questions pile up and it takes ages to find matching answers or working theories. Miss being in a team of people working with the same thing, as opposed to being the one with the proverbial pants.

Art wise I'm getting back into painting after a long hiatus, as well as slowly figuring out more secrets to the camera. Drooling at the thought of owning a D7000 to replace the D60 these days, but it's not quite in the budget at the moment.

Saving up for both a new car and setting up a nest egg for the future, as well as planning this year's hols with the other half. Not sure what's happening health wise, still on crutches for the 9th week back to the docs next week for yet another assessment.

Am on the whole really looking forward to this year, got so much going on that we don't really know where to start.
Hope you all are having a blast so far and you're all set to follow your dreams and hopes for this year.

Autumn wonders

2 min read
It's that time of year again, where the colours change from the ground up and there's a distinct nip in the air.
The autumn colours are storming ahead and it won't be many weeks before the ice scraper is brought out for its daily chores.

Just had a week off work to spend catching up on some R&R.
Managed to sneak off to this year's Sensation Innerspace in Oslo which was an absolute blast, and skulked off to the usual mountain cabin later in the week.
The cabin's now set up for the winter, just got to wait for the snow before bringing the skis up.

Managed to get some good pics from a wildlife park not too far away, more pics to follow as I yank them off the camera. It was truly an awe inspiring experience to go into the wolf and lynx enclosures to take pictures of these animals.

As usual, the fantastic week flew by and this dream world came to an end far too quickly.
Roll on the good times, there'll be more fun times to be had, as the year isn't over yet! :D
